Ramadan, the Light
of Hearts: Women’s Evening Enhances Spiritual Preparation for the Holy Month

The Women’s Activity Committee
at the Qatar branch of the International Union of Muslim Scholars held a
spiritual evening titled “Ramadan, the Light of Hearts” on Monday, February 16,
at the Union’s headquarters. The event witnessed a remarkable female attendance,
reflecting participants’ genuine enthusiasm for spiritual preparation ahead of
Ramadan.

Ramadan: A Turning Point for Change

The evening was presented by Dr.
Iman Sufyan, while the opening remarks were delivered by the Chair of the
Women’s Activity Committee, Dr. Hind Al-Hammadi, who emphasized the importance
of early spiritual preparation and transforming Ramadan into a true turning
point in the lives of women and families.

Dr. Hind stressed that Ramadan
is not merely about fasting and worship, but a chance to reorganize priorities,
renew determination, and create a positive impact within the home and society.
She encouraged participants to use the holy month to strengthen faith-based
values, cultivate a positive spirit, and build a family environment full of
awareness and devotion.

Home as the Center of Spirituality

Dr. Farida Al-Sadiq Zozu
delivered a talk titled “Daily Remembrance in My Home,” highlighting the role
of the household in creating a spiritual atmosphere.

She addressed the causes of
negligence and ways to overcome them, emphasizing the importance of righteous
deeds through various methods grounded in Quranic verses and the Hadith:
“Indeed, Allah has slaves who are freed every day and night.” She noted that
Ramadan is a unique opportunity to break free from the bondage of desires and
temptations.

Dr. Zozu also presented a model
for a 15-minute daily remembrance session, including Quranic interpretation,
Hadith explanation, discussions on morals and values, reviewing the Prophet’s
characteristics, and studying the lives of the Companions. Such family
gatherings, she explained, are blessed by angels and strengthen familial bonds.

Secrets
of Fasting and the Objectives of Worship

Dr. Fatima Azzam delivered a
lecture titled “Secrets of Fasting and Its Objectives,” covering four main
themes:

1-
Ramadan: Honor and
Obligation – God’s command to observe fasting combines the honor of faith with
the obligation of fulfilling its requirements, from self-discipline to
promoting social solidarity.

2-
Objectives of Worship and
Quranic Expression – She highlighted the rhetorical wisdom in the verse
{“Fasting is prescribed for you”}, explaining that the primary purpose of
fasting is to achieve piety, while also considering the needs of the weak and
the sick.

3-
Ramadan: Month of
Victories and Jihad – She linked fasting to spiritual jihad, emphasizing that
Ramadan represents the struggle of the self and liberation from fear and
illusion. It is also the month of the Islamic nation’s key victories, from the
Battle of Badr to the conquest of Mecca.

4-
School of Change and
Empowerment – Ramadan is a season for gradually cultivating good habits, and
true victory and empowerment are attained only through trials and purification.
She encouraged leveraging the month to strengthen unity, obey the Prophet , and serve the Muslim community.

Educational Fasting and the Faith-Based School

Ms. Naqaa Abdulmohsen discussed
the concept of “Nourishing Hunger” and its educational dimensions, while Dr.
Wafaa Azzam presented a vision titled “Faith-Based Educational School in the
Light of Fasting Verses,” emphasizing fasting’s role in shaping a balanced and
faithful personality.

Continuity of Quality Programs

The evening was marked by a
profound spiritual atmosphere and a distinguished female presence, reflecting
awareness of the importance of such gatherings in strengthening faith and
preparing the heart and mind for Ramadan. The event concluded with a reaffirmation
of the continuation of quality programs supporting women in creating an
informed and spiritually conscious environment within society.
