Release of the
Encyclopedia of the Prophets and Messengers (Peace Be Upon Them) by Dr. Ali
Mohammed Al-Sallabi
During the blessed month of
Ramadan 1447 AH / 2026, the Encyclopedia of the Prophets and Messengers (Peace
Be Upon Them) by Ali Mohammed Al-Sallabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the
International Union of Muslim Scholars, was officially released. The work has
been published by Dar Ibn Kathir in Damascus, where the author received the
first printed copy during the holy month.
The encyclopedia forms part of a
scholarly project dedicated to the biographies of the Prophets as presented in
the Holy Qur’an. It offers a sequential presentation extending from God’s
choosing of Adam (peace be upon him) to the Seal of the Prophets and
Messengers, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), combining
Qur’anic foundations with a structured academic methodology in both arrangement
and presentation.
The volume includes the
biographies of twenty-five Prophets mentioned by name in the Qur’an, arranged
from Adam (peace be upon him) to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They
are: Adam, Noah, Hud, Saleh, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Shu‘ayb,
Moses and Aaron, David and Solomon, Job, Jonah, Idris, Dhul-Kifl, Elijah,
Elisha, Zechariah, John, Jesus, culminating in the Prophetic biography of
Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The work emphasizes that the
message of all the Prophets is one: the Oneness of God, the establishment of
justice, and the revival of hearts through faith. It also highlights the values
embodied in their blessed lives across the ages, including patience,
steadfastness, wisdom, mercy, and reform.
The release of the encyclopedia
during the Month of the Qur’an strengthens the reader’s connection to Prophetic
guidance and renews the spirit of emulating the lives of the Prophets and
Messengers (peace be upon them), within a documented scholarly framework that
reflects the standing of this project among specialized publications in
Qur’anic studies and Prophetic biography.
