Scholars Forum 2026 in Malaysia: National Unity and Support for Al-Aqsa and
Palestine

The Jerusalem and Palestine
Committee of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), together with
the Union’s Malaysian branch, organized the 2026 Asia-Pacific Scholars Forum
under the theme “A Call from Paradise”. The two-day event was held from
February 3 to 4 at the Royal Park Hotel at UNITEN University, with wide
participation from scholars, preachers, intellectuals, and leaders of religious
institutions, alongside academics and representatives of civil society
organizations from Asia-Pacific countries.
The forum was attended by His
Excellency the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Zulkifli Hassan;
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Mr. Syed
Ibrahim Syed Noah; the Head of the Malaysian Parliamentary Coalition for
Palestine; as well as Dr. Salem Saqqaf Al-Jaafri, Vice President of the
International Union of Muslim Scholars; Dr. Marwan Abu Ras, Chairman of the
Jerusalem Committee; Dr. Wan Sabki, Head of the Union’s Malaysian branch; and a
number of leading scholars and preachers.
Forum Objectives
and Key Themes
The forum aimed to strengthen
the institutional role of scholars in addressing contemporary challenges and to
unify scholarly and intellectual efforts in defending just causes, particularly
the Palestinian cause, through legal, humanitarian, digital, environmental, and
economic approaches.
The main sessions
of the forum focused on:

The legal and ethical
dimension of supporting Palestine.
·
The role of digital
narratives in shaping global awareness.
·
Institutional
coordination between scholars, official bodies, and civil society.
·
Reconstruction of Gaza
and community recovery after aggression.
·
Environmental and health
justice, documenting crimes against humanity and the environment.
·
Economic and societal
resistance tools, and the role of families and women in resilience.
Closing Statement
and Follow-up Mechanisms
The forum concluded with a final
statement affirming that supporting Palestine is a legal, ethical, and
humanitarian duty, and that the Palestinian cause represents a global ethical
test, especially in light of contemporary media and digital transformations.
Key practical
outcomes highlighted in the statement included:

Strengthening the
presence of the Palestinian narrative in digital spaces.

Supporting institutional
coordination among scholars and various organizations.
·
Prioritizing water,
energy, health, and education in Gaza’s reconstruction.
·
Documenting environmental
and health destruction as crimes requiring legal accountability.
·
Affirming the legitimacy
and effectiveness of peaceful pressure tools, including economic boycotts.
It was also agreed to establish
an official communication group comprising scholars and participants to enhance
continuous engagement, as well as a follow-up committee to ensure
implementation of the forum’s outcomes and sustainable action plans after the
event.
Participants emphasized that the
forum represents a foundational platform for joint scholarly work, aiming to
activate the role of scholars, strengthen their institutional presence, and
translate legal and ethical positions into sustainable programs in support of
Palestine and the broader causes of the Muslim Ummah and humanity.
