Libya Achieves a
Global Milestone: First Quran for the Blind in the Qalon ‘an Nafi’ Recitation
The General Authority of Awqaf
has announced the completion of the “Libyan Awqaf Quran for the Blind”, in a
historic step considered the first of its kind globally in the Qalon ‘an Nafi’
recitation.
This achievement comes to
enhance the empowerment of visually impaired individuals, enabling them to
recite the Holy Quran according to the authentic, well-established narration.
The Authority stated in a post
on its official Facebook page:
“A great glad tidings is
delivered to the Libyan nation, to the Islamic Ummah at large, and to our blind
brothers in particular: By the grace and favor of Allah Almighty, a unique
Quranic work has been completed, prepared and reviewed in accordance with the
approved guidelines for writing the Holy Quran, consistent with the principles
of orthography, diacritical marks, and recitation, while taking into account
the precise technical requirements of Qurans designed for the blind.”
The Authority highlighted that
the project was overseen by a specialized scientific committee, responsible for
preparation, meticulous review, and rigorous scholarly verification, ensuring
the Quran’s accuracy and suitability for official use, in line with the highest
standards of transcription and editing applied in serving the Book of Allah.
This historic accomplishment is
the first worldwide in preparing a Quran for the blind in the Qalon ‘an Nafi’
recitation, representing an unprecedented scientific and technical milestone,
and adding to Libya’s proud record in serving the Holy Quran and its sciences.
The project represents a new
breakthrough in enabling visually impaired individuals to recite and accurately
follow the Quran, affirming that the service of the Holy Quran continues to
produce remarkable projects and dedicated efforts.
It is noteworthy that in 2007,
the Blind Association in Benghazi issued the first Quran for the blind in the
two recitations, Qalon ‘an Nafi’ and Hafs ‘an Asim, using the Ottoman script,
paving the way for the new achievement launched by the General Authority of
Awqaf.
