Ministry of Awqaf Concludes Preliminary Rounds of the “Fastamsik”
Quran Memorization Competition
Muscat – The
Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman has concluded
the preliminary rounds of the “Fastamsik” Quran Memorization Competition, which
witnessed the participation of approximately 170 contestants from various age
groups.
The competition aims
to promote care for the Holy Quran and support Quranic schools, which are
regarded as beacons of knowledge and faith. It also seeks to highlight the
efforts of endowment institutions and inform the public about their
contributions to serving the Quran and developing their Quranic, endowment, and
scholarly products.
Additionally, the
competition strives to prepare participants for local and international Quranic
contests with high proficiency, while fostering a spirit of noble faith-based
competition among Quran memorizers, thereby enhancing values of sincerity and diligence.
The competition
provides an encouraging educational environment to increase the number of
learners and those interested in studying the Quran. It includes honoring
outstanding participants in memorization, recitation, and interpretation, as a
recognition of their efforts and as motivation for others. Moreover, it
encourages Omani youth to engage deeply with the Quran—through memorization,
understanding, and contemplation—so they may serve as role models in ethics and
good deeds.
The preliminary
rounds were organized in five judging centers across several governorates:
Dhofar, Al Buraimi, North Al Sharqiya, Al Dakhiliya, and Muscat. The
competitions were marked by seriousness and discipline, with judging committees
ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and fairness in evaluation, in line
with the competition’s goals of nurturing Quranic knowledge and encouraging its
memorizers.
Judges praised the
remarkable level of the participants, affirming that the first edition of the
competition reflects a growing awareness of the importance of memorizing the
Quran and mastering its recitation, especially among the younger generation,
which represents a positive indicator for the future of the competition in
upcoming editions.
Participants
expressed their appreciation for the well-organized event and the smooth
judging procedures, noting that their participation provided a motivating
experience that strengthened the spirit of positive competition and connection
with the Quran.
The results of the
preliminary rounds and the names of those advancing to the next stage are
expected to be announced soon, paving the way for the final stages of the
competition, with plans to expand its scope in future editions in terms of the
number of participants and judging centers.
