Congratulates Syrians on the Anniversary of Repelling the Aggression: A Day
When the Will of the People Triumphed
His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali
Mohyeddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim
Scholars, extended his congratulations to the Syrian people on the occasion of
the one-year anniversary of what he described as the “Battle of Repelling the
Aggression and Liberating Syria,” emphasizing that this commemoration carries
profound spiritual and national significance, and represents a moment when
“God’s sovereignty” manifested and the power of the people to prevail became
evident when their will is united.
Victory as the
Will of the People and the Promise of God
In a tweet on his X (formerly
Twitter) account, Al-Qaradaghi stated that the events Syrians are commemorating
this year “revealed to the nations that God’s will prevails over the will of
tyrants,” asserting that victory came at a moment “when political calculations
failed and negotiation tables abandoned their purpose,” while only God’s will
remained dominant.
He explained that what occurred
represents “a sign of God’s justice when it is manifested,” noting that nations
whose intentions are sincere and who pursue the means of strength “are guided
by God and doors open for them that they never imagined were near.”
Al-Qaradaghi praised the
steadfastness of the Syrian people during that battle, affirming that they
proved “that when hearts are attached to their Lord and hands unite in the
cause of truth, the impossible is broken, oppression collapses, and history is rewritten.”
He prayed to God to consolidate
what he described as “the victory,” and to grant the Syrian leadership and
people “insight that is not deceived, and humility that does not waver,” and
that the outcome of this period be “prosperity, justice, and guidance,”
emphasizing the necessity of building state strength and restoring security to
its citizens.
He concluded his congratulations
by praying for Syria and its people to be protected from “the schemes of the
cunning,” and to be blessed with success and guidance, adding: “Victory comes
only from God.”
The Battle of
Repelling the Aggression
The Battle of Repelling the
Aggression is considered the largest military operation launched by rebel
factions in northwestern Syria in late November 2024, in response to the former
regime’s military escalation and territorial expansion.
Over twelve days, fighters
reportedly entered Damascus and declared the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad
regime (2000–2024), which succeeded his father Hafez al-Assad (1970–2000),
before fleeing to Moscow, which reportedly granted asylum to him and his family.
During decades of Assad family
rule, the regime imposed strict security control and committed widespread human
rights violations, making the day of its ousting a national occasion for
Syrians.

في مثل هذه الذكرى العظيمة، تجلّت… pic.twitter.com/5EAQDnmjuf— د. علي القره داغي (@Ali_AlQaradaghi) November 28, 2025
