Inauguration of the Largest Mosque in the Balkans in
Southeastern Bulgaria as a Religious and Cultural Center
The city
of Kardzhali in southeastern Bulgaria witnessed the inauguration of the
“New Mosque” on Tuesday, one of the largest mosques in the Balkan
region, during an official ceremony attended by religious and cultural figures,
as well as Turkish deputies and officials.
In his
opening speech, Minister Arsoy emphasized that the mosque represents an
important symbol for Muslims in the region, serving not only as a place of
worship but also as a spiritual, cultural, and social center. He also
highlighted the ongoing development of friendly and cooperative relations
between Turkey and Bulgaria.
Minister
Arsoy noted that the mosque was built on an area of 1,400 square meters and can
accommodate 1,200 worshippers. It includes various facilities such as Quranic
education classes, meeting halls, and spaces for different activities, making
it a prominent center for serving the Muslim community in Kardzhali.
For his
part, Head of Religious Affairs, Safi Arbagush, stressed that the “New
Mosque,” as one of the most important mosques in the Balkans, will serve
as a center for knowledge, social solidarity, loyalty, and ethics, in addition
to being a place of worship.
