Islamic Group: “Lebanon Must Confront Normalization and
Develop a National Strategy to Defend the Country”

The
Islamic Group in Lebanon announced its commitment to opposing any project aimed
at normalizing relations with the Israeli enemy, affirming that it “will
be at the forefront of confronting the normalization project whose signs have
begun to appear on the horizon.” The group emphasized its readiness to
overturn this project, just as it previously nullified the May 17 Agreement.

This
statement came during a large rally organized by the group in Tripoli in
support of Gaza. Former Secretary-General of the group, Azzam Al-Ayoubi,
stressed the existence of “schemes and conspiracies aiming to strip the
nation of its mantle of resistance and confrontation with the enemy,”
questioning the outcomes of the previously signed “agreements of
humiliation and disgrace.”

Al-Ayoubi
called on Lebanon’s political leaders, particularly the government, to hold a
dialogue session to discuss a national strategy for defending Lebanon against
ongoing aggressions, instead of focusing on disarming the resistance under weak
pretexts. He emphasized that this weaponry is not only for Hezbollah, but
represents the state’s ability to confront the enemy when it attacks Lebanese
territory.

He also
asserted that the enemy, supported by the U.S. administration, does not want
Lebanon or its army to be strong, citing statements from enemy leaders who have
compelled the army to destroy any weapons found in the south. He added:
“America, along with global powers, wants Lebanon weak and prohibits its
army from possessing any capacity to confront the enemy.”

Al-Ayoubi
further stressed that the Israeli enemy does not respect any state and
continues its aggression against Arab countries, citing attacks in Syria where
enemy aircraft targeted sites aimed at destroying weapons. He clarified that
the enemy “does not fear concessions, but fears men before weapons.”

Al-Ayoubi
concluded his call by urging Lebanese citizens to launch “a serious
dialogue encompassing all political and sectarian factions to form a unified
military force that leverages the capabilities of all sects in confronting the
Zionist enemy.”
