Conclusion of the Global Forum for the
Authentication of Qur’anic Ijazahs in Kuala Lumpur
The activities of the Global Forum for the
Authentication of Qur’anic Ijazahs concluded in the Malaysian capital, Kuala
Lumpur, with the participation of a distinguished group of scholars and
specialists in Qur’anic sciences and recitation, alongside thousands of hafiz
and hafizah from Southeast Asian countries.
The forum, the first of its kind, serves as a platform
for studying lapses in the verification of Qur’anic Ijazahs, addressing cases
of granting Ijazahs to those who are not fully qualified, enhancing cooperation
among institutions and centers specialized in reviewing and authenticating
Ijazahs, and exchanging expertise.
During the forum, the Global Certificate for the
Authentication of Qur’anic Ijazahs was inaugurated, aiming to raise the level
of reliability and credibility of Ijazahs, and to preserve the status of Qur’an
bearers through a precise methodology and systematic approach.
The certificate was awarded for the first time to ten
hafiz who met the standards for reviewing Qur’anic chains of narration (isnad),
alongside honoring several senior Qur’an reciters from ASEAN countries in
recognition of their pioneering role in spreading and teaching the Qur’an, as
well as their contributions to nurturing generations of Qur’an scholars
grounded in the principles of moderation and balance.
The forum also witnessed the graduation of a new
cohort of hafiz and hafizah who obtained the Qur’anic Ijazah with a continuous
chain to the reciters of the Salaf, through the Global Technical Qur’anic
Reading Program of the Muslim World League, in addition to graduates from the
Qur’an Memorization and Recitation Institute of the Islamic Foundation in
Malaysia affiliated with the League.
The forum issued several important recommendations,
the most prominent of which include: documenting Qur’anic Ijazahs according to
precise scientific standards, enhancing the understanding of Ijazah for both
reciters and certificate holders, and following the best methodology in
granting Ijazahs.
