Death Toll from Starvation in Gaza Rises
to 361, Including 130 Children
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip
announced on Tuesday the deaths of 13 people, including 3 children, due to
starvation and malnutrition over the past 24 hours—the highest number recorded
in a single day since the beginning of the extermination and starvation
campaign imposed by the Israeli occupation on the Strip.
The ministry stated that the total number of
starvation-related deaths has risen to 361, including 130 children, warning of
the accelerating consequences of the crisis amid severe shortages of food and
medicine that hinder the response.
August alone saw the deaths of 185 Palestinians as a
result of the blockade and tightened restrictions on aid entry.
Since the United Nations declared the spread of famine
in Gaza Governorate on August 22, 70 people, including 12 children, have died,
with warnings of its extension to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis.
The Ministry of Health also noted that 43,000 children
under the age of five suffer from malnutrition, in addition to more than 55,000
pregnant and breastfeeding women, confirming that two-thirds of pregnant women
suffer from anemia.
This comes as the Israeli occupation began
implementing a plan to invade Gaza City, destroying entire residential
neighborhoods in Shuja’iyya, Al-Zaytoun, and Al-Sabra, as well as in Jabalia in
the northern Strip, displacing thousands of civilians.
Countries and human rights and humanitarian
organizations have condemned these violations, warning of a new bloody
escalation and widespread displacement of Gaza City’s population of
approximately one million.
Since October 2023, the Israeli occupation, with U.S.
support, has continued its extermination campaign against the Gaza Strip
through killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring
international appeals and International Court of Justice orders.
This war has resulted in the deaths of over 63,000
Palestinians and injuries to more than 160,000.
