Kairouan Marks the Prophet’s Birthday
with National Qur’an and Hadith Competition

On Sunday morning, August 31, 2025, Kairouan (160 km
east of Tunis) launched the National Qur’an Recitation and Hadith Memorization
Competition as part of the city’s Prophet’s Birthday celebrations.

This religious and scholarly event marks the opening
activity of the International Festival of the Prophet’s Birthday in Kairouan,
which spans a week and features scientific seminars, religious lectures, and
cultural programs.

Held at the House of the Qur’an in Kairouan, the event
attracted participants from across the country, along with families and
religious enthusiasts, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere of recitation and
remembrance.

The competition is a central feature of the festival,
symbolizing Tunisians’ strong attachment to the Qur’an and the Prophet’s
traditions, and highlighting Kairouan’s role as a center of Islamic knowledge
and faith.

Although competitive, the event primarily serves as a
spiritual and cultural occasion that promotes piety, pride in Islamic identity,
and encourages youth to memorize the Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet
(peace be upon him).

Through this festival, Kairouan continues to affirm
its position as a key destination for celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday,
blending history, religion, and culture in an atmosphere of spirituality and
identity pride.
