Scholars of the Ummah:
Media Is a Central Front of Awareness in Support of Palestine and Gaza

The
specialized scientific workshop titled “Activating the Media Role in Scholarly
Institutions to Serve the Palestinian Cause”, held as part of the International
Scholarly Conference “Gaza: An Islamic and Human Responsibility”, affirmed that
the battle raging since October 7 is no longer confined to the battlefield
alone, but has also become an outright media battle. This, the workshop
emphasized, requires a strong presence from scholarly institutions, given their
religious symbolism and influential social standing.

Participants
stressed that today, the media represents “a central pillar in shaping
awareness and a weapon of contemporary jihad”. They called on scholarly
institutions to use their platforms for legitimate mobilization against the
occupation, to expose its crimes in Gaza, and to produce faith-based and
humanitarian content that speaks to the conscience of the world in every
language.

The workshop proposed
several key approaches to strengthen the media role, most notably:

1-     Issuing
religious rulings that consider media mobilization against the occupation a
duty.

2-     Active
participation of scholars in international media campaigns and solidarity
events.

3-     Developing
a unified narrative that reflects the religious and historical stance of the
Ummah on Palestine.

4-     Shifting
from defense to media offense by exposing the occupation’s crimes and
countering its misleading narratives.

5-     Entrenching
core concepts (occupation, resistance, prisoners, Al-Aqsa) in scholars’
discourse.

6-     Linking
media with the field through events and demonstrations led by scholars.

7-     Cultivating
influential religious figures capable of engaging with modern media and shaping
public opinion.

The
workshop stressed that scholarly institutions must transform from traditional
academic centers into purposeful media platforms that express the conscience of
the Ummah and reshape both Islamic and international public opinion in support
of Palestine and Gaza.

It
concluded by underscoring that “the media battle is a battle of awareness, no
less critical than the battle on the ground.”
