Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf Launches “Al-Maher bil Qur’an” Program
for 90 Students to Promote Memorization and Recitation
The
summer Qur’anic program “Al-Maher bil Qur’an”—organized by the
Department of Da‘wah and Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Awqaf and
Islamic Affairs in Qatar—continues to attract widespread participation across
various age groups. Two specialized summer centers are witnessing active
involvement from students eager to refine their memorization of the Holy Qur’an
or complete it during the summer break.
90 Students Participate Across Two Specialized Centers
This
initiative is part of a comprehensive series of Qur’anic programs launched by
the Ministry to make productive use of the summer holidays by enhancing
students’ educational, moral, and spiritual development and strengthening their
bond with the Qur’an.
The
broader program lineup includes: “Sayfuna ‘Ala Kaifina”, the “Abjad” course to
teach children the basics of Arabic letters and Qur’anic reading, the inaugural
summer course at the Al-Noor Qur’anic Educational Center, and “Al-Maher bil
Qur’an”, held at Jassim Al-Darwish Fakhro Mosque in Abu Hamour and Mohammed bin
Abdulaziz Al Thani Mosque in Hazm Al Markhiya.
Sheikh
Amr Al-Maliki, supervisor of the course at Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Thani
Mosque, explained that the program aims to support Qur’an memorization,
revision, and the correction of recitation, accompanied by various educational
and recreational activities.
The
course is divided into two main tracks:
· Revision
Track: Designed for students to review the Qur’an based on their level (entire
Qur’an, 25 Juz’, 20 Juz’, 15 Juz’, 10 Juz’, or 5 Juz’).
· Memorization
and Recitation Track: Intended for students who have already memorized large
portions of the Qur’an and aim to perfect their recitation.
The
program hosts 90 students, nearly 50% of whom have completed memorizing the
entire Qur’an. The course runs for a full month, from July 13 to August 13,
four days a week (Sunday to Wednesday), from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. It is open to
male students who meet the enrollment requirements—such as memorizing at least
10 Juz’ for the revision track or being at least 16 years old for the
memorization and recitation track.
Educational Programs That Instill Qur’anic Values
The
course features a comprehensive educational and moral curriculum, including the
study of key texts on Qur’anic etiquette and sciences such as “Mukhtasar Akhlaq
Hamalat al-Qur’an” (Abridged Ethics of the Bearers of the Qur’an), “Tuhfat
al-Atfal” (a classical poem on Tajweed), “Al-Adab wal-Adhkar” (Etiquette and
Remembrances), and “Al-Itqan li-Alfaz al-Qur’an” (Mastery of Qur’anic
Pronunciation). These texts are presented in an engaging, age-appropriate
manner to enrich the student’s experience and deepen their understanding of the
Qur’an.
Through
such initiatives, the Ministry of Awqaf aims to develop students’ Qur’anic
skills, reinforce ethical and educational values, and encourage them to join
the Ministry’s Qur’an memorization circles, thereby contributing to the
spiritual and intellectual growth of future generations.
