Indian Muslims Raise Outcry Against Genocide and Starvation in
Gaza, Demand Immediate End to the Siege
New
Delhi – July 28, 2025
In a
rare show of unity, leading Muslim figures in India issued a powerful call from
the heart of the capital, New Delhi, demanding an immediate end to the genocide
and starvation in the Gaza Strip. They also urged the Indian government to
reclaim its historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
India Must Uphold Its Historical Stance
The
appeal came during a press conference held by prominent Indian Muslim leaders
at the Indian Press Club. Among the attendees were the head of Jamaat-e-Islami,
Sa’adatullah Husaini; the head of the Ahl-e-Hadith movement, Sheikh Ali Asghar
Imam Mahdi Salafi; prominent Shia scholar Sheikh Mohsin Taqvi; and Dr.
Zafarul-Islam Khan, former Chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission.
Representatives from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and the Muslim Students Union also
took part.
The
speakers emphasized that the Indian government must adhere to its ethical and
humanitarian principles, and must refrain from providing any form of support to
the Zionist occupation. Instead, it should firmly stand with the oppressed
Palestinian people.
“We urge
the government and all segments of Indian society to rise in support of
Palestine and raise their voices for Gaza,” said Sa’adatullah Husaini,
stressing that this is a moral and humanitarian responsibility that cannot be
ignored.
What Is Happening in Gaza Is the Collapse of International Law
Dr.
Zafarul-Islam Khan, a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and
one of India’s most prominent advocates for Palestine, strongly criticized the
silence of the international community. He stated that what is taking place in
Gaza amounts to a systematic destruction of international law, which has
developed over more than a century and a half.
He noted
that the majority of the world’s nations—from Africa, Asia, and Latin
America—stand with Palestine, while some Western countries continue to support
the occupation despite being fully aware of the scale of atrocities being
committed. He pointed out that 140 countries have called for an end to the
aggression, and that the International Court of Justice has issued arrest
warrants for Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.
“This is
the first genocide in history being carried out live on air, watched daily by
the world without any action to stop it,” Khan added, noting that the aim of
the occupation is to displace Palestinians from Gaza by creating a full-scale
humanitarian catastrophe.
He also
issued a sharp rebuke to Arab and Muslim countries, calling their silence an
unjustifiable complicity, and warning that history will hold them accountable
for their disgraceful inaction.
