Angry Protests Erupt in Jordan Against Starvation in Gaza, Demand Urgent
Action to Lift Siege

Amman,
Jordan – Large-scale protests have recently swept through the Jordanian
capital, Amman, and other cities across the kingdom, as demonstrators voiced
their outrage over the starvation of Gaza’s population under the ongoing siege
and war imposed by the Israeli occupation for more than 21 months
.

In Amman, a
mass march set off from the Al-Tafayla neighborhood, where protesters banged on
kitchen pots in a symbolic act representing hunger and suffering. They chanted
angry slogans denouncing the silence of Arab governments and rejecting
normalization agreements with the Israeli occupation
.

Participants
also raised banners expressing support for the Palestinian resistance and
reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Gaza, who continue to endure
dire humanitarian conditions under blockade and bombardment
.

The march
began outside the Jaafar Al-Tayyar Mosque, marking a rare event after months of
restrictions by Jordanian authorities on central demonstrations since the
Israeli assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023
.

In the
northern city of Irbid, protesters attempted to launch a march from the
vicinity of Al-Hashimi Mosque following evening prayers. However, security
forces quickly cordoned off the area, preventing their movement. The
demonstration was instead held as a sit-in at the mosque entrance, where
participants expressed their fury at the killing, starvation, and displacement
of Gazans, calling on the Jordanian government to take immediate action and use
all available means to deliver humanitarian aid
.

These
protests come amid one of the worst humanitarian crises in Gaza’s history.
Severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine persist, while the death
toll continues to rise daily
.

Since March
2, 2025, the Israeli occupation has completely sealed off all border crossings
into Gaza, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid. This has triggered a
widespread famine, resulting in hundreds of starvation-related deaths
.

It is worth
noting that the Israeli occupation has waged a brutal war on Gaza since October
2023—marked by mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced
displacement—while disregarding international appeals and rulings from the
International Court of Justice calling for an end to the aggression
.

The war,
backed directly by the United States, has so far claimed the lives of nearly
200,000 people, mostly women and children, left over 9,000 missing, and
displaced hundreds of thousands more
.
