Massive Rally in
Tunisia in Support of Stricken Gaza: Chants Against Siege, Starvation, and
Occupation Crimes
On Saturday evening, dozens of
Tunisians participated in a protest stand in front of the Municipal Theatre in
downtown Tunis, expressing solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip,
who have been subjected to a continuous genocidal war for 21 months.
The rally was organized by the
“Supporters of Palestine” Association, where participants raised slogans
demanding an end to the aggression, lifting the siege, and opening crossings to
allow food and medicine entry.
Murad Al-Yaacoubi, a member of
the association, stated that the situation in Gaza is “extremely dire, amid
escalating famine, suffocating siege, and slow killings carried out with the
complicity of major powers,” adding, “People are on the brink of death — and
this is no exaggeration. Many have died of starvation.”
He confirmed that such
protests are now held weekly despite the pain, amid a significant wave of
global abandonment, noting that Tunisian popular engagement is increasing, even
among children.
Daily Massacres
and Systematic Starvation
In this context, the Gaza
Ministry of Health confirmed that more than 900 Palestinians — including 71
children — have died from hunger and malnutrition since the start of the war,
while over 6,000 others were injured while searching for food.
On Sunday morning, the
occupation committed a horrific crime northwest of Gaza City, killing 54
people, including 51 aid seekers, and injuring more than 60.
The Ministry of Health pointed
out that the occupation uses starvation as a deadly weapon amid a humanitarian
catastrophe threatening over two million people due to the complete siege and
the prevention of aid entry, including medicine and medical supplies, leading
to the collapse of the healthcare system.
Ongoing
Genocidal War with International Support
Since October 7, 2023, the
Zionist occupation has continued a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip,
including killing, starving, and displacing its people, ignoring international
resolutions and the orders of the International Court of Justice to cease hostilities.
So far, the aggression has
resulted in over 199,000 Palestinians killed or injured, most of them children
and women, along with more than 9,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands
displaced, amid a silent famine claiming lives.
