Sheikh Dr. Essam Al-Bashir, the Deputy Head of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, hosted a honorary luncheon in honor of Sheikh Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, the Secretary-General of the Union.

This event was attended by a number of prominent scholars and preachers, including Sheikh Dr. Omar AbdulKafi and Sheikh AbdulWahab Al-Tariri, in addition to the advisor to the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad.

Members of the Union’s Board of Trustees also attended, including Sheikh Dr. Osama Al-Rifa’i, Sheikh Dr. Abdulhai Yusuf, Dr. Nawaf Tekrouri, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sagheer, Dr. Wasfi Ashour Abu Zeid, Dr. Abdulmajid Al-Najjar, Dr. Abdulwahab Ekinci, and Dr. Jamal Abdel Sattar.

The discussions centered around a number of issues that concern the Islamic nation, especially the role of scholars in addressing these issues and facing contemporary challenges.
