A statement from the office of Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and member of the Union, confirmed that the Israeli intelligence has summoned him for questioning without stating the reason.

Sabri’s lawyer, Khaled Zabarqa, has stated that his client has not committed any legal violations and warned of extremist Jewish groups’ incitement against him. Sabri has previously been raided and prevented from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He is a prominent figure as the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, and has authored several books and fatwas. The Israeli authorities have not yet commented on the statement.
