Algeria Launches “Prophetic Biography Award” to Promote
Spiritual and Ethical Values

On
Thursday, September 4, the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs and
Endowments announced the launch of an international competition on the
Prophetic Biography (Seerah), by a decision of the President of the Republic,
coinciding with the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ birthday.

According
to the ministry’s statement, the initiative is named the “Algeria Award for the
Eternal Prophetic Biography of Our Master Muhammad ﷺ.”
It aims to consolidate the spiritual and humanitarian values derived from the
Prophetic biography and to encourage scientific research and intellectual
creativity in the service of the life and teachings of the Noble Prophet ﷺ.

The
ministry emphasized that this award reflects the Algerian state’s commitment to
enhancing the status of the Prophetic biography and promoting its scientific
and cultural influence, contributing to instilling the ethical and humanitarian
values carried by the Greatest Prophet ﷺ
and transmitting them to future generations as a guiding light in addressing
contemporary challenges.

This
initiative aligns with Algeria’s strategic approach of positioning religion as
a key pillar for strengthening national identity, reinforcing social unity, and
countering extremism through a moderate discourse derived from the Prophetic
guidance.

The
award’s launch follows the inauguration of the Great Mosque of Algiers, the
largest religious and cultural complex in the country and the Islamic world,
which underscores Algeria’s role as a scientific, spiritual, and architectural
beacon.

The
initiative also reflects Algeria’s vision of leveraging the religious dimension
as a cornerstone of national security, social cohesion, and enhancing its
regional and international presence as a moderate voice in the Arab and Islamic
world.
