Hundreds of Moroccans Protest in Solidarity with Gaza, Calling
for an End to the Palestinian Massacre
Hundreds
of Moroccans took to the streets on Friday evening in several cities across the
kingdom, participating in nighttime marches demanding an end to the starvation
and extermination of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The
demonstrators called for urgent action to halt the Israeli aggression against
Gaza, while also emphasizing support for the Global Resilience Fleet heading to
the besieged territory.
These
marches were organized at the invitation of the Moroccan Committee for the
Support of the Nation’s Causes (a non-governmental organization), under the
slogan: “Following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad… Supporting Gaza with
the Resilience Fleet.”
Several
Moroccan cities, including Sidi Yahya and Salé in the west, as well as El Kelaa
des Sraghna and Abi Jaaad in the central region, witnessed demonstrations in
which participants held banners expressing solidarity with the Palestinians,
demanding an end to the starvation and massacre in Gaza.
Morocco
has seen almost daily protests and mass demonstrations in solidarity with the
Palestinian people, calling for a halt to Israeli aggression, the lifting of
the blockade, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
Since
March 2, Israeli occupation forces have closed all crossings leading to Gaza,
preventing the delivery of any humanitarian assistance. This blockade has
pushed the territory into a state of famine, despite the accumulation of relief
trucks at its borders, with only very limited quantities allowed
in—insufficient to meet the minimum needs of the population.
The
Israeli occupation, backed by the United States, has continued committing what
amounts to a genocide since October 7, 2023, resulting in more than 64,000
Palestinian deaths and over 162,000 injuries, in addition to more than 9,000
missing persons and hundreds of thousands displaced. The famine has also
claimed the lives of over 376 Palestinians, including 134 children.
