Mosque Launches First Doctoral Program for International Students through “Dar Al-Quran“
The Dean of Algiers Grand
Mosque, Mohamed Al-Mamoun Al-Qasimi Al-Hassani, announced that the Higher
School of Islamic Sciences (Dar Al-Quran) is ready to welcome its first cohort
of international doctoral students.
In a statement following his
meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Al-Qasimi explained that current
efforts are focused on strengthening cooperation with academic centers in Arab
and Islamic countries, particularly across Africa, in a move that reinforces
the mosque’s standing in the global scientific and religious arena.
Strengthening Comprehensive Religious Authority
Al-Qasimi emphasized that
Algiers Grand Mosque, committed to fulfilling its broad civilizational role,
serves as a bastion of comprehensive religious authority, in line with the
vision expressed by President Tebboune during the inauguration of this prominent
religious institution.
He also highlighted the projects
achieved to date through the mosque’s affiliated institutions and bodies,
noting that these initiatives align with the civilizational mission the mosque
seeks to embody.
“Dar Al-Quran”: A Multidisciplinary Higher Institution
The National School of Islamic
Sciences (Dar Al-Quran) is one of the key facilities of Algiers Grand Mosque.
It is a higher education institution dedicated to postgraduate studies,
focusing on a wide range of Islamic and Sharia sciences.
Its programs cover Quranic
studies, faith and ethics, and dialogue among civilizations and cultures,
alongside modern fields such as Islamic financial markets, fintech, and Islamic
banking.
The school also offers programs
in Takaful insurance, history of science and mathematics, and social and
educational psychology from an Islamic perspective, in addition to
specializations related to urban heritage planning and architectural heritage.
Dar Al-Quran aims to provide
advanced, specialized education for graduates of higher education institutions,
while also training officials and employees in the religious affairs and
endowments sector to update their knowledge and elevate their academic and
professional level.
The institution further works to
enhance cooperation and exchange of expertise with national and international
bodies within its areas of specialization, reinforcing its role as a hub of
scientific and religious influence regionally and globally.
