Mauritania’s
Center for Scholars Launches Second Training Session for Leaders of Senegal’s
Quranic Schools Union
As part of its ongoing joint
training program, Mauritania’s Center for Scholars officially launched this
morning, Saturday, January 17, 2025, its second training session dedicated to
the leaders and officials of the Union of Quranic Schools in the Republic of
Senegal. The initiative forms part of continuous efforts to enhance the
scientific and administrative competencies of personnel working in the field of
Quranic education.
Enhancing
Competencies
The three-week course provides
participants with specialized scientific and administrative programs designed
to meet the demands of their leadership roles and to strengthen their
management, supervision, and guidance skills.
In his opening speech, Dr.
Mohamed Mokhtar Mohamed Al-Mami, Director General of the Center for Scholars,
emphasized that these training sessions serve as a key platform for honing
skills and developing the scientific and administrative capabilities of beneficiaries.
He noted that the program is a direct outcome of the cooperation agreement
between the Center and the National Union of Quranic Schools Associations in
Senegal.
He added that the Center’s
mission focuses on disseminating knowledge, reinforcing Islamic values, and
promoting bonds of brotherhood and good neighborliness among nations.
Scientific
Partnership
Dr. Al-Mami highlighted that
this session builds upon the previous linguistic and administrative empowerment
program organized by the Center for a select group of Union leaders. It is part
of a comprehensive scientific pathway aimed at developing the Shinqiti school
curriculum and enhancing its role in teaching Islamic sciences and humanities.
For his part, Sheikh Mustafa
Wone, President of the Union of Quranic Schools in Senegal, praised the
pioneering role of the Center for Scholars in training Senegalese students and
granting them certification in the Quran and its sciences. He commended the
Center’s efforts in promoting the Arabic language and Islamic studies in
Senegal through the Union.
He urged participants to
diligently benefit from the program, noting that they serve as ambassadors of
the Union and its scientific mission.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sirin Mansour
Samb, Secretary General of the Union, expressed his gratitude to the Center’s
administration for its warm welcome and hospitality, affirming that this course
reflects fruitful and ongoing cooperation between the two institutions. He also
provided an overview of the Union of Quranic Schools, highlighting the notable
progress of its staff since the collaboration with the Center began over
fifteen years ago.
The course supervisor, Mr.
Mohamed Yasselm Ahmed Salem, encouraged participants to maximize their efforts
and seize the opportunities offered, outlining the schedule and curriculum of
the training session.
The ceremony concluded with the
presentation of certificates of appreciation from the Union of Quranic Schools
in Senegal to the Center for Scholars, recognizing its continuous efforts in
serving Quranic students and school supervisors in Senegal.
It is worth noting that the
cooperation agreement between the two parties stipulates that every two years,
the Center receives a selected group of Union students through a competitive
process to receive two years of scientific training in Quranic studies and the
Arabic language. Graduates receive a diploma qualifying them for teaching,
leading prayers, and delivering sermons, in addition to specialized training
courses for Union administrators and teachers.
