“Algerian Reciters” Illuminate Mosques in Mascara
Province with a Quranic Caravan Covering 10 Municipalities

A Quranic caravan titled “Algerian
Reciters” was recently launched in the Algerian province of Mascara, under
the slogan: “The Light of the Qur’an is Our Guidance, and the Legacy of the
Free is Our Pledge.” This religious initiative aims to strengthen the status of
the Holy Book in the hearts of citizens and connect generations to the values
of identity and national spirit through recitation, praise, and purposeful
lessons.

The caravan began its journey from the
central mosque “Imam Muslim”, in the presence of a distinguished group of
nationally renowned Qur’an reciters, including Abdulaziz Saheem, Abdulkarim
Belhassen, and Abdulmonaim Baroudi, amidst a spiritual atmosphere that deeply
moved the attendees.

Organized by the Directorate of Religious
Affairs and Endowments in coordination with the Directorate of Tourism and
Handicrafts, the caravan will tour several municipalities in the province over
three days. These include Mascara, El Kort, Ghriss, Tighennif, Oued Taria,
Mohammadia, Froha, El Bordj, Ain Fares, and Bouhanifia, with the participation
of ten reciters from various regions across the country.

In a statement, the Director of Religious
Affairs and Endowments, Mr. Ali Zanadra, explained that the caravan includes,
in addition to Qur’anic recitations, accompanying religious activities such as
praise songs and supplications performed by students from Qur’anic schools and
zawiyas. It also features lectures and religious lessons delivered by imams and
officials from the directorate, focusing on the virtues of memorizing the
Qur’an and reflecting on its verses.

The caravan will conclude with a
religious ceremony at the “Uthman ibn Affan” Mosque in the city of Mascara,
during which the participating reciters will be honored, along with children
aged 9 to 14 who have memorized the Qur’an from the province’s Qur’anic
education schools — a gesture of appreciation and encouragement for the people
of the Qur’an.
