Libya: Al-Sallabi
at launch of Al-Jayyid Competition – Quran, project of renaissance and unity
The State of Libya witnessed, on
Saturday February 21, the launch of the activities of the “Al-Jayyid
International Quran Competition,” with the participation of memorizers and
reciters from more than forty countries, in an international Quranic event that
reflects the country’s status in serving the Book of Allah and enhancing its
presence on the map of international Quran competitions.
The event was attended by Sheikh
Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi, Adviser on National Reconciliation in Libya, who delivered
a comprehensive speech in which he affirmed that the Holy Quran will remain the
guiding light for individuals and nations, and the framework through which
values are established and societies are preserved.
The Quran… A
Measure of Values and a Unifier of the Ummah
Dr. Al-Sallabi began his speech
by praising Allah and sending blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, explaining that the “Al-Jayyid
International Competition” represents an extension of Libya’s historical role
in embracing Quran memorizers and serving the people of the Quran. It has
become an annual station where reciters from dozens of countries meet,
competing in precision and Tajweed, and gathering around the table of divine
revelation.
He pointed out that the
gathering of delegations from more than forty countries under the banner of the
Quran embodies a scene of dignity and unity, where diverse languages meet upon
a single melody—the eternal melody of revelation. He affirmed that the Ummah
remains in goodness as long as there are those who carry the Book of their Lord
in their hearts, recite it proficiently, and act according to its teachings.
A Civilizational
Message Beyond Competition
The National Reconciliation
Adviser clarified that this blessed competition is not merely about
memorization and excellence in recitation, but rather a civilizational message
affirming the centrality of the Quran in the project of the Ummah’s renaissance,
and its role in strengthening values and collective awareness. He cited the
verse of Allah: “Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most upright.”
(Al-Isra: 9).
He added that such initiatives
contribute to reviving the spirit of competing in good deeds, connecting
generations to divine revelation, and restoring the Quran’s status as the
ethical and methodological reference that unites the Ummah despite geographical
distances.
The “Al-Jayyid International
Quran Competition” is an international event aimed at supporting the memorizers
of the Book of Allah, encouraging precision in memorization and recitation, and
building a generation connected to the Quran in both word and deed, within the
vision of Al-Jayyid Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship to create
sustainable value-based impact.
