Awqaf Launches Third Edition of “Asaneed” Program to Certify 50 Imams and
Muezzins with an Unbroken Chain to the Prophet Muhammad

The Qatari Ministry
of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Da‘wah Department and in
cooperation with the Mosques Department, has launched the third edition of the
“Asaneed” Program for the years 2025–2026, with the participation of 50 imams
and muezzins. The program aims to grant them certification in the recitation of
Hafs ‘an ‘Asim through an unbroken chain of transmission reaching back to the
Prophet Muhammad
.

The launch of the
program comes as part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to elevate the Qur’anic
performance of imams and muezzins and to strengthen the authentic methodology
of Qur’anic learning based on direct oral transmission and verified chains of narration.
This approach ensures the quality and precision of recitation in accordance
with the established rules recognized by scholars of Qur’anic recitation,
reflecting the ministry’s commitment to caring for the Holy Qur’an and serving
those who work in the houses of Allah.

The “Asaneed”
Program is considered a distinguished educational initiative that seeks to
teach participants the Qur’anic readings and grant them formal certification
with connected chains of transmission to the Messenger of Allah
. This
contributes to correcting Qur’anic performance, enhancing the standard of
recitation, and ensuring the accurate application of tajweed rulings based on
recognized principles of transmission.

600
Applicants… Selecting the Elite

The Da‘wah
Department had opened registration for the program on November 24 for a period
of one week, witnessing strong interest, with approximately 600 imams and
muezzins from across the country applying.

Following the close
of registration, admission tests were conducted before five specialized
committees at Hamad bin Nasser Al-Misnad Mosque in the Hazm Al-Markhiya area
from December 7 to 11. Applicants were evaluated according to approved academic
criteria, including accuracy of memorization, quality of recitation, and
mastery of tajweed rules.

The results of the
examinations led to the selection of the top 50 imams and muezzins to
participate in the program, which will run for six months and conclude on June
11, 2026.

Six Months of Connected Qur’anic Instruction

The Da‘wah
Department was keen to select 10 qualified and specialized scholars to oversee
the Qur’anic instruction in this edition, all of whom hold certifications in
the ten Qur’anic readings. They were distributed according to geographic
regions within the country to facilitate participants’ regular attendance in
recitation circles and to enhance the efficiency of program implementation.

The Ministry of
Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed that the “Asaneed” Program embodies its
vision of caring for the Holy Qur’an and its people, and reflects its
commitment to developing da‘wah competencies and raising the academic and
performance standards of imams and muezzins. This ensures the delivery of a
sound religious message grounded in connected knowledge, a moderate
methodology, and precise performance.

The continuation of
the program into its third edition underscores its success in achieving its
objectives and represents a practical translation of the ministry’s efforts to
invest in human capital, elevate the role of the mosque, and strengthen the presence
of the Holy Qur’an in the life of society according to the highest academic and
educational standards.
