Bangsamoro Region: Council of
Scholars’ First Address Reinforces Fatwa, Peace, and Development
The Muslim Bangsamoro region in Mindanao
witnessed a historic event on Thursday, September 11, marked by the delivery of
the first official address by the Council of Scholars (SOUA), presented by the
Regional Mufti, Sheikh Abdul Raouf A. Guialani, at the Sharif Kabunsuan
Cultural Complex in Cotabato City, the seat of the regional government.
Wide Attendance Reflecting the Scholars’
Esteem
The event brought together representatives
from ministries and government agencies, alongside prominent scholars,
community leaders, and councils of scholars from various areas of the region,
reflecting a collective acknowledgment of scholars as guardians of moral values
and pioneers of social peace.
A Strategic Vision for the Office of Fatwa
In his address, Mufti Guialani presented the
scholars’ future vision, emphasizing the need to strengthen the institutional
role of the Office of Fatwa as a “house of opinion,” expand religious guidance
and community service programs, and consolidate the scholars’ contributions to
peacebuilding and interfaith coexistence.
He also highlighted the importance of
balancing the preservation of Islamic values with supporting the Bangsamoro
government’s aspirations for good governance and comprehensive development.
Government Support and a Call for Unity
In his speech, Prime Minister Abdul Raouf
“Sami Gambar” A. Makasua affirmed his commitment to participating in this
historic event alongside the scholars, stressing that they serve as the compass
of faith and collective conscience, and that their wisdom and moral leadership
constitute a foundational pillar for promoting unity and consolidating good
governance.
The event concluded with renewed support for
the partnership between the Bangsamoro government and the scholars,
underscoring their pivotal role in guiding society toward stability and
sustainable prosperity.
