IUMS Calls for Fasting on Thursday in
\nDevotion to God and Solidarity with Gaza<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Within the framework of its international scientific
\nconference held under the theme \u201cGaza: An Islamic and Human Responsibility\u201d,
\nthe International Union of Muslim Scholars has urged Muslims across the globe
\nto fast on Thursday, 5 Rabi\u2018 al-Awwal 1447 AH (August 28, 2025). The call is
\nboth an act of devotion to God\u2014since fasting on Thursdays is a Prophetic
\ntradition\u2014and an expression of solidarity with the people of Gaza, who endure
\nsiege, hunger, and thirst under relentless aggression.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Union President Sheikh Dr. Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qaradaghi
\nstressed that the scholars participating in the conference resolved to begin
\nwith themselves by fasting in worship and supplication, as a demonstration of
\nthe Ummah\u2019s unity and shared suffering with Gaza. He emphasized that, had
\naccess been possible, the scholars would have stood in the front lines beside
\nits people, but the blockade prevented that.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He underlined that this initiative reflects a position
\nof faith and morality, reaffirming that the Islamic Ummah will never abandon
\nGaza regardless of the duration of the aggression. He further warned that the
\noccupation\u2019s continued policies of killing, starvation, and genocide will have
\ndire consequences extending beyond Palestine, threatening the stability and
\nsecurity of the entire region.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union, in cooperation with the Islamic Scholars
\nEndowment, is hosting this global conference with the participation of more
\nthan 150 scholars representing 50 Muslim and non-Muslim countries. The
\ngathering embodies a unified scholarly stance against the crimes of the
\noccupation and reaffirms the commitment to defending Palestine and the just
\ncauses of the Ummah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The conference, which began last Friday, runs until
\nAugust 29, and will conclude with a major scholarly assembly in the courtyard
\nof Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul\u2014affirming that the voice of the scholars
\nwill continue to rise in truth in defense of Gaza, Jerusalem, and Palestine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
