His Excellency Mr. Ghanem bin
\nShaheen bin Ghanem Al-Ghanim, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the
\nState of Qatar, received yesterday, Thursday, 12 February, at his office, His
\nEminence Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the World Union of
\nMuslim Scholars, in a meeting characterized by mutual respect and appreciation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting began with a warm
\nreception for His Eminence the Sheikh, during which the President of the Union
\nexpressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister, praising the efforts of
\nthe Ministry of Awqaf in its scientific, advocacy, educational, and
\nintellectual fields, as well as its diverse activities, especially during the
\nblessed month of Ramadan, and its prominent role in serving the Qatari society
\nand promoting the values of moderation, balance, and sound Islamic culture.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His Eminence Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi
\npresented a comprehensive overview of the scientific, educational, and
\nintellectual activities implemented by the Union through its various bodies,
\nincluding the Presidency, the General Secretariat, branches, and scientific
\ncommittees, in addition to its members spread across 82 countries worldwide. He
\nreaffirmed the Union\u2019s commitment to its mission in serving the Islamic Ummah
\nand appreciated, in this context, the efforts of the State of Qatar in
\nsupporting the causes of the Ummah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His Eminence also proposed a
\nnumber of scientific and intellectual projects and discussed advanced scholarly
\ntopics, including his scientific project in the principles of Islamic
\njurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), as well as issues of disciplined ijtihad and renewal,
\nwithin the framework of promoting sound Islamic thought and keeping pace with
\ncontemporary developments.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

For his part, His Excellency the
\nMinister reviewed the diverse role of the Ministry in serving society and the
\nIslamic Ummah, highlighting the significant support it receives from His
\nHighness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, may Allah protect him, and the impact
\nof this support on enhancing the Ministry\u2019s performance and programs.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His Excellency expressed his
\ndeep appreciation for His Eminence Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi, commending the
\nscientific and advocacy efforts exerted by the World Union of Muslim Scholars
\nand its influential role in serving Islamic causes and promoting scholarly and
\nintellectual awareness, affirming that these efforts enjoy the Ministry\u2019s
\nattention and esteem.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This meeting reflects the
\ncommitment of His Excellency the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to
\nstrengthening communication with scholars and thinkers, supporting scientific
\nand intellectual initiatives, and demonstrating his profound respect for the
\npeople of knowledge, as well as his interest in constructive dialogue and
\nactive participation in discussing visions and projects that serve the Ummah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
