President of the International
\nUnion of Muslim Scholars Participates in the Inauguration of Sheikh Mahmoud

In a majestic scene reflecting the
\ncontinuity of knowledge and its noble mission, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali
\nAl-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, took
\npart on Saturday, July 5, in the inauguration of Sheikh Mahmoud Effendi
\nCollege\u2014may Allah have mercy on him\u2014in the city of Of, in the Turkish province
\nof Trabzon. His participation came in response to a gracious invitation from
\nthe organizers of this blessed educational project<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The event was attended by a number of
\nscholars and preachers, most notably Sheikh Salih Top\u00e7u, imam and preacher of
\nSheikh al-Islam Ismail Agha Mosque in Istanbul, who is also the founder and
\ngeneral supervisor of the college, along with a group of educators and scholars
\ninterested in Islamic sciences and spiritual refinement<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Coinciding with the college’s opening, a
\ngraduation ceremony was held for 70 students who had studied under a
\ndistinguished group of scholars under the supervision of Sheikh Salih Top\u00e7u<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative represents a continuation of
\nthe scholarly legacy laid down by the late spiritual leader Imam Mahmoud
\nEffendi, may Allah have mercy on him, and a revival of his mission in spreading
\nknowledge and serving the Shari\u2019ah<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Warm Welcome and
\nMutual Respect<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Upon his arrival at the college, the
\nPresident of the Union was received with a warm welcome, reflecting the high
\nesteem in which he is held among scholars and preachers, particularly by the
\nIsmail Agha Waqf. They are united by mutual respect and a shared mission<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Waqf That
\nConnects the Present to the Roots of Civilization<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sheikh
\nAl-Qaradaghi said<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span>This blessed Waqf, founded by
\nthe devout scholar Ismail Agha\u2014may Allah have mercy on him\u2014then carried forward
\nby the saintly Sheikh Mahmoud Effendi, continued by his student Sheikh Hassan
\nEffendi, and today supervised by Sheikh Fikret and led academically by Sheikh
\nSalih, is not merely an institution, but a continuation of the spirit of
\nIslamic endowment. It nourishes the Ummah with knowledge and the Qur\u2019an,
\nlinking its present to the roots of its civilization<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His Eminence emphasized that the college,
\nthe newly established boarding center, and the mosque are not mere stone
\nbuildings, but \u201cfortresses of light and sanctuaries of scholarly renewal rooted
\nin authentic chains of Islamic knowledge<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Knowledge as a
\nWaqf for the Sake of Allah<\/span><\/b><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi spoke about the role of
\nendowments (awqaf) in reviving the Ummah, stressing that when knowledge is
\ndedicated purely for the sake of Allah\u2014not for career or fame\u2014it becomes pure
\nknowledge that serves the Ummah and renews its faith<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He added<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span>The concept of endowed knowledge
\nis a strategic vision that elevates the Ummah, especially when knowledge is
\nfreed from the dominance of money and politics and becomes sincerely devoted to
\nAllah\u2014educating, nurturing, and refining<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In reflecting on the secret behind the
\ncontinuity and lasting impact of such institutions, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi
\nexplained<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>:<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Sincerity of intention:
\nWhoever is sincere to Allah, Allah preserves his knowledge and sustains his
\nmission<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>Community involvement:
\nThe community must feel that the waqf belongs to them, that the school is
\ntheirs, and that the responsibility is collective\u2014not individual<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Model to Emulate<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

His Eminence concluded his speech by
\npraising what he had witnessed in the city of Of, describing it as \u201ca model to
\nbe emulated\u201d in terms of intergenerational connection, unity among scholars,
\nsincerity of purpose, sound administration, and the harmony between spiritual
\ndepth and organizational excellence<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of his visit, he prayed that
\nAllah bless this noble initiative, place it in the record of good deeds of the
\nlate Imam Mahmoud Effendi and his students, and bless the land that produces
\nmen of light, knowledge born of sincerity, and endowments born of mercy<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
