In the
\npresence of more than 50,000 male and female worshippers, and in a live
\nbroadcast across more than 11 television channels, Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohyi Al-Din
\nAl-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars,
\ndelivered the Friday sermon and led the prayer on November 21 at Iqbal Park in
\nthe city of Lahore, attended by leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sheikh
\nAl-Qaradaghi opened his sermon with praise to Allah Almighty, highlighting the
\ndivisions, fragmentation, and backwardness afflicting the Muslim world, despite
\nGod\u2019s description of this nation as the best community raised for humanity. He

Islamic
\nExcellence and Unity<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

He
\nexplained that the excellence of the Muslim nation during the prophetic era
\nencompassed both worldly and spiritual affairs and was grounded in the guidance
\nof revelation and sound reason. This balance enabled the community to attain
\ngoodness in both this world and the Hereafter, in accordance with the verse:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\npointed out that the acts of worship practiced by Muslims in that era\u2014such as
\nprayer, fasting, and others\u2014were sincere and comprehensive, reflecting inner
\nand outer piety and fulfilling the higher purposes of Sharia. At the same time,
\ndevelopment and civilization were pillars of this well-balanced Islamic
\nculture. Scholars excelled in both religious and natural sciences, including
\nAbu Hanifa, Al-Khwarizmi, and Ibn al-Haytham, whose works were studied in
\nEuropean universities well into the modern era.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

However,
\nhe noted that Islamic civilization gradually declined after the 4th century AH
\ndue to stagnation and blind imitation, as religious practice became
\nincreasingly superficial and attention to development, science, and creativity
\ndiminished\u2014disrupting the essential balance between worship and stewardship on
\nearth.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Balanced
\nPiety and Civilizational Development<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

He
\nstressed that restoring the excellence of the Muslim nation requires
\nre-establishing the balance between genuine inward and outward religiosity and
\ncomprehensive civilizational development that benefits nations and peoples,
\nfollowing the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and reformers
\nthroughout history.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\nconcluded his sermon with prayers for Allah Almighty to guide the Muslim nation
\nback to the path of excellence and unity, affirming that fully following the
\nexample of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the key to achieving happiness
\nand success in this world and the Hereafter.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is
\nworth noting that the Sheikh\u2019s visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan comes
\nin response to an invitation from Jamaat-e-Islami to participate in the
\norganization\u2019s general conference, scheduled from November 21 to 23, 2025, in
\naddition to his participation in the international forum titled \u201cIslam and the
