The International Union of
\nMuslim Scholars Condemns the Criminal Act Targeting the Mar Elias Church in
\nDamascus (Statement)<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

At a time when Islamic law and all divinely
\nrevealed religions emphasize the sanctity of blood and the protection of human
\nlife, we are deeply shocked by the news of the terrorist bombing that targeted
\nthe Mar Elias Church in the Al-Dweila area of Damascus, Syria \u2014 an atrocious
\ncrime that claimed innocent lives and stands in stark opposition to all
\nreligious and human values<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In light of this tragic incident, the
\nInternational Union of Muslim Scholars expresses its strong condemnation and
\ndeep denunciation of this cowardly criminal act. The Union affirms that Islam
\nis completely innocent of such acts that terrorize peaceful civilians, target
\nplaces of worship, and spread chaos and destruction<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union reiterates its firm stance in
\nrejecting all forms of terrorism, violence, and extremism \u2014 regardless of the
\nperpetrators or the pretexts under which such acts are committed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union extends its heartfelt condolences
\nand sympathy to the families of the victims, to the Syrian government, and to
\nthe brotherly Syrian people, praying that Syria and its people be safeguarded
\nfrom strife and evil<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
