The International
\nUnion of Muslim Scholars Condemns Persecution of Muslims in India, Seizure of
\nTheir Endowments, and Warns of the Danger of Discriminatory Laws on the
\nCountry\u2019s Stability (Statement)<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The International Union of
\nMuslim Scholars stands in solidarity with the rights of Muslims in India and
\ncondemns any infringement upon these rights through unjust laws and measures.
\nThe Union advises the Indian government to retract these laws, as they ignite
\ndiscord and harm India\u2019s interests and its relations with the Islamic world.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union follows with deep
\nconcern and sorrow the developments in India\u2014a nation that was once a sanctuary
\nof security, equality, and freedom after its independence, in which Muslims
\nplayed a significant role. However, since the rise of the right-wing extremist
\nparty, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 under Modi\u2019s leadership, systematic
\npolicies of killing, displacement, intimidation, and destruction of mosques and
\nMuslim schools have emerged under the pretext of lacking prior legal approval.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2019, the Citizenship
\nAmendment Act was enacted with the intent to displace millions of Muslims and
\nexpel them from India, partially implemented in the state of Assam.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, additional laws,
\nadministrative regulations, clear policies, and revealing statements have been
\nissued, showing that the current government seeks to transform India from a
\nsecular pluralistic state into a Hindu state\u2014similar to the Zionist project in
\nPalestine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

These fears have been echoed by
\nthe United Nations and human rights organizations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Most recently, the Indian
\nParliament approved a bill proposed by the ruling right-wing party aiming to
\nexpand central government control over Muslim endowments. The National Congress
\nparty opposed this bill, deeming it unconstitutional and discriminatory against
\nMuslims.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In light of this painful and
\nalarming situation, the Union affirms the following:<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

First: It vehemently condemns
\nany law, action, or project based on racial discrimination, foremost among them
\nthis unjust law that grants the government control, management, and
\nconfiscation of Muslim endowments, which are a trust inherited from ancestors
\nfor future generations.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Second: The Union calls on the
\nIndian government to repeal these unjust laws rooted in oppression and
\ndiscrimination against Muslims, emphasizing that such laws are invalid, harmful
\nto the nation and its people, incite hatred, and fuel animosity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Third: The Union urges the great
\nand wise Indian people, known for their honor and dignity, to prevent the
\ncurrent government from manipulating the nation\u2019s constitution and stirring
\nhatred and enmity for partisan gains over the public interest of India.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is well known the
\nlongstanding friendship between India and the Arab and Gulf worlds. Muslims in
\nIndia are original inhabitants whose rights must be preserved.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Wisdom demands preventing
\nanything that divides the nation and banning any actions that could lead to
\ninternal strife and civil wars.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, we at the International
\nUnion of Muslim Scholars care deeply about India and hope it remains a symbol
\nof human rights, dignity, and genuine equality. Progress comes with justice,
\nhonor, and the contentment of peoples\u2014oppression is darkness and a herald of
\ncivilization\u2019s decline.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
