{"id":59287,"date":"2022-02-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iumsonline.cloud\/2022\/02\/05\/nigerias-kwara-state-reaffirms-use-of-hijab-in-public-schools\/"},"modified":"2022-02-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-02-05T00:00:00","slug":"nigerias-kwara-state-reaffirms-use-of-hijab-in-public-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iumsonline.cloud\/en\/2022\/02\/05\/nigerias-kwara-state-reaffirms-use-of-hijab-in-public-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria\u2019s Kwara state reaffirms use of hijab in public schools."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia,serif; font-size:14pt\">Nigeria&#39;s Kwara state on Tuesday reaffirmed its stance of allowing Muslim girls to wear the hijab in public schools, saying it will not tolerate any form of religious bigotry at educational institutions.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia,serif; font-size:14pt\">In a statement, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa&#39;adatu Modibbo-Kawu, said the government met with Muslim and Christian leaders over the headscarf issue in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia,serif; font-size:14pt\">&ldquo;The policy statement of the Kwara state government allowing willing Muslim schoolgirls to wear the hijab in all public schools, including grant-aided ones, is binding,&rdquo; said Modibbo-Kawu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia,serif; font-size:14pt\">&ldquo;This conforms to the judicial pronouncements of the courts of law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia,serif; font-size:14pt\">Calling on both Muslim and Christian leaders to allow peace to reign in the state, she said: &quot;There is freedom of religion in Nigeria.
