Al-Aqsa Mosque: Faith, Identity, and the

On the fourth day of the Global Scholarly Conference
\n\u201cGaza: An Islamic and Humanitarian Responsibility,\u201d an extensive academic
\nsession was held under the title: \u201cThe Status of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Challenges
\nIt Faces, and the Duties of Muslims Towards It.\u201d The session brought together a
\ndistinguished group of scholars and thinkers from various Islamic countries,
\nwho presented more than forty research papers addressing the religious,
\nhistorical, political, and practical dimensions related to the Blessed Al-Aqsa
\nMosque.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The session focused on three main
\nthemes:<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1. The Status of Al-Aqsa Mosque in
\nIslamic Creed and History<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Scholars affirmed that Al-Aqsa is a fundamental pillar
\nof faith, without which belief is incomplete. It is the site of the Isra and
\nMi\u2019raj, blessed in the Quran, a \u201csister\u201d to Mecca and Medina, and a symbol of
\nIslamic unity and the resilience of the Ummah. They emphasized that it is not
\nmerely a political or geographical issue, but a matter of identity and
\ncivilizational existence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Challenges and Threats Facing Al-Aqsa
\nMosque<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The papers highlighted more than twenty threats,
\nincluding daily incursions, attempts at temporal and spatial division,
\nunderground excavations, Zionist calls to build the \u201calleged Temple,\u201d
\nJudaization of the Old City, weakening of Islamic authorities, official Arab
\nnormalization, and international silence. Participants warned that the
\noccupation is steadily attempting to impose full Jewish sovereignty over the
\nmosque, amid the absence of serious Arab and Islamic stances.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Duties of Muslims Towards Al-Aqsa
\nMosque<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Speakers stressed that supporting Al-Aqsa is both a
\nreligious obligation and a humanitarian and civilizational duty, with
\nresponsibilities distributed among individuals, scholars, and governments.
\nIndividuals are called upon to raise awareness, educate, and provide material
\nand moral support; scholars are tasked with issuing fatwas and renewing
\nreligious discourse on the issue; while governments must engage politically,
\ndiplomatically, and legally, and implement projects to support and strengthen
\nthe resilience of Jerusalemites.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The session concluded by emphasizing that the Al-Aqsa
\nissue must remain a top priority for the Islamic Ummah, and that its liberation
\nand protection is a collective responsibility, renewed with each generation
\nuntil it is fully restored from the hands of the occupation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
