Istanbul Conference Highlights Forcibly Disappeared Women and

On
\nSunday, the Turkish city of Istanbul witnessed the launch of the International
\nHawaa Organization\u2019s conference under the slogan \u201cFor Her\u2026 A Call for the
\nMissing,\u201d with the participation of institutions and influential figures from
\nseveral Arab and Islamic countries, including Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, Syria,
\nSudan, Turkestan, and Yemen.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nconference focuses on the issue of forcibly disappeared women and supporting
\ntheir families, while also shedding light on the dire humanitarian conditions
\nfaced by the women of Gaza under blockade and continuous bombardment.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In its
\nstatement, the organization said the conference constitutes a unified platform
\nto bring together influential voices to defend women\u2019s rights and urge the
\ninternational community to take practical steps to protect them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nprogram includes testimonies and real-life experiences of women who have been
\nsubjected to enforced disappearance or political imprisonment, where
\nparticipants recount their suffering in prisons and the psychological and
\nphysical torture, as well as the deprivation of basic rights, they endured.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nconference also connects these experiences to the plight of women in Gaza, who
\nface bombardment, displacement, and shortages of food and medicine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Organizers
\naffirmed that the conference seeks to build Arab and international alliances to
\npressure governments and global institutions to stop violations, while linking
\nhumanitarian efforts to the Palestinian cause, particularly regarding women\u2019s
\nrights in education, healthcare, and food security.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants
\nstressed the necessity of unifying legal and humanitarian efforts to protect
\nwomen and ensure that their voices reach the international stage, calling for
\nthe establishment of effective follow-up mechanisms to implement decisions and
\nrecommendations on women\u2019s rights, and emphasizing that the suffering of women
\nin conflict zones, especially in Gaza, must remain present and heard at all
\nlevels.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
