On Monday, the
\nqualifying rounds of the International Algeria Award for the Memorization and
\nRecitation of the Holy Qur\u2019an were launched in the Algerian capital, marking
\nthe start of the 21st edition of the competition. These rounds are a prelude to
\nthe final stage, which is expected to see the participation of representatives
\nfrom more than 48 countries from around the world.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In statements, the
\nAlgerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments indicated that the number
\nof participating countries is likely to increase in the coming hours to reach
\napproximately 50 countries.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The minister
\naffirmed that this edition reflects the growing stature that the International
\nAlgeria Award for the Memorization and Recitation of the Holy Qur\u2019an has
\nattained on the international stage, as well as the expanding recognition and
\ninterest it has garnered.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The qualifying
\nrounds are being conducted via remote video conferencing technology at Algerian
\nembassies, consulates general, and diplomatic missions abroad, under the
\nsupervision of an international jury comprising four judges from Algeria, in
\naddition to one judge from the Syrian Arab Republic and another from the
\nSultanate of Oman, as explained by Minister Belmehdi.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In the same context,
\nhe noted that the competition, across its various editions, constitutes a
\ngenuine opportunity to discover new Qur\u2019an reciters and outstanding talents
\nfrom within Algeria and beyond. It also reflects the advanced level Algeria has
\nreached in serving the Holy Qur\u2019an through mosques, Qur\u2019anic schools, zawiyas,
\nand Qur\u2019anic recitation institutions.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He recalled that the
\nAlgerian state has continued to support this competition by introducing new
\ncategories and increasing the monetary value of the prize, thereby enhancing
\nits standing and reinforcing official care for those who carry the Book of
\nAllah.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The qualifying
\nrounds are scheduled to continue until next Wednesday, after which 20
\ncontestants from various countries will be selected to participate in the final
\nstage of the competition, to be held in conjunction with the commemoration of
\nAl-Isra and Al-Mi\u2018raj.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
