Istanbul on a

On Thursday evening, the mosques
\nof Istanbul commemorated the Night of Isra and Mi\u2019raj with a deeply spiritual
\natmosphere filled with devotion, as the minarets echoed with prayers and
\nsupplications amid a large turnout of worshippers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Prominent mosques across the
\ncity, including Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, Sultan Ahmed, Ey\u00fcp Sultan, Fatih,
\nTaksim, \u00c7aml\u0131ca Grand, and S\u00fcleymaniye, witnessed significant attendance from
\nworshippers who gathered to honor this blessed religious occasion.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The events featured recitations
\nof Quranic verses alongside prayers that resonated throughout the mosques,
\nreflecting the profound significance of this night in the hearts of Muslims.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

During his sermon at Fatih
\nMosque, Imam Galip \u00d6sta prayed to Allah for the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque,
\njust as Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque had been \u201cliberated,\u201d referring to its
\nreopening as a mosque after decades of closure to worship.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that on July
\n10, 2020, the Turkish Council of State unanimously annulled the 1934 Cabinet
\ndecision that had converted Hagia Sophia into a museum. On the same day,
\nTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan signed a presidential decree reopening
\nHagia Sophia for worship and transferring its supervision to the Directorate of
\nReligious Affairs.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

On July 24, 2020, the mosque
\nhosted its first Friday prayer in 86 years in a grand ceremony attended by
\nPresident Erdo\u011fan and senior state officials.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Muslims commemorate the Night of
\nIsra and Mi\u2019raj to honor the blessed journey in which Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> was taken from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca
\nto Al-Aqsa Mosque and then ascended to the heavens.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
