Renowned Nigerian Imam Sheikh
\nAbu Bakr Abdullah has passed away at the age of 90 in a local hospital, after
\nsuffering from heart problems, according to Nigerian media reports.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sheikh Abdullah was widely
\nrecognized for his heroic role in protecting civilians during armed attacks on
\nhis village in Plateau State in 2018, where he rescued dozens of people,
\nincluding Christians, and provided them safe refuge in his home and the mosque
\nhe led.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

During that period, he sheltered
\n262 individuals, telling the BBC: “I first took the women to my home to
\nhide them, then brought the men to the mosque.” When the attackers learned
\nthat villagers had sought refuge in the mosque, they demanded he hand them
\nover, but he bravely refused, pleading with them through tears and shouting.
\nLocal Muslims then joined him, prompting the attackers to withdraw.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His life was also marked by
\nreligious influence, as dozens of Christians embraced Islam through his
\nguidance. In recognition of his courage and dedication to serving others, he
\nwas awarded one of Nigeria’s highest national honors, as well as an American award.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Plateau State Governor Caleb
\nMutfwang described the imam\u2019s passing as “a profound loss” to the
\ncommunity, praising his steadfast commitment to peace, unity, and protecting
\nthe vulnerable, especially women and children.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\ngrant him paradise, and place his blessed deeds on the scale of his good deeds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
