Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Dr. Ahmed
\nAl-Tayeb affirmed today, Friday, that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is \u201can
\nintegral part of Muslim identity,\u201d warning against attempts to erase its
\nidentity and distort its landmarks, amid ongoing schemes aimed at altering its
\nhistorical and religious reality.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Tayeb\u2019s statements were made
\nin a post published on his official Facebook and X accounts, on the occasion of
\nIsra and Mi\u2019raj, during which Muslims commemorate the miraculous night journey
\nof the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to
\nAl-Aqsa Mosque, followed by his ascension to the heavens.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Grand Sheikh emphasized that
\nIsra and Mi\u2019raj highlights the great significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Islamic
\nbelief, stressing that it \u201cis not merely a historical symbol, but a fundamental
\npillar of Muslim identity.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He also warned against \u201cdivision
\nschemes\u201d and \u201cefforts to erase identity and distort landmarks,\u201d affirming that
\nAl-Aqsa Mosque \u201cis a trust in the hands of Muslims, neither aging, falling, nor
\never erased.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Tayeb concluded his post with
\na prayer, saying: \u201cMay Al-Aqsa Mosque remain steadfast, strong, and towering
\nevery year; may the nation remain united, fraternal, vigilant, and full of
\npromising strength every year; and may you all be well every year.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

These statements come at a time
\nwhen the occupation has intensified its policies aimed at Judaizing the
\noccupied eastern city of Jerusalem, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, and erasing its
\nArab and Islamic identity, since October 7, 2023.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
