The Islamic Ummah was struck
\nwith grief on Friday by the passing of the prominent Yemeni preacher Habib Omar
\nbin Hamid bin Abdulhadi Al-Jilani, Shafi\u2019i Mufti of Mecca, at the age of 76,
\nwhile en route to Jakarta on a scholarly and da\u2018wa mission. His departure left
\na profound impact and widespread sorrow in the hearts of his students and
\nadmirers both within Yemen and abroad.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The late scholar\u2014may Allah grant
\nhim vast mercy\u2014was one of the great intellectual and religious figures who
\ndedicated their lives to serving Islam, spreading religious knowledge, and
\nteaching Shafi\u2019i jurisprudence. He followed the Prophetic methodology in his
\npreaching and guidance, combining knowledge with practice, and religious
\ncalling with spiritual purification, remaining away from the spotlight while
\nstaying close to hearts, leaving a deep and lasting effect on his students and
\nsociety.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Yemeni media
\nsources, Habib Omar Al-Jilani was born in 1950 into a scholarly family with a
\nlong-standing intellectual and Sufi heritage, which contributed to his early
\nacademic and religious formation. He later distinguished himself through his
\nmastery of Shafi\u2019i jurisprudence and his influential teaching presence.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In his youth, he moved to Mecca
\nto pursue and disseminate knowledge, where he gained widespread recognition,
\nbecoming a reference point for students of knowledge and serving as Shafi\u2019i
\nMufti. He was also prominent in Sufi circles across the Arab world, renowned
\nfor his moderation, wisdom, and high moral and educational standards.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The late scholar was known for
\nhis extensive missionary travels beyond the Arabian Peninsula, particularly to
\nSoutheast Asia and Africa, especially Indonesia and Kenya. His scholarly and
\nda\u2018wa connections also extended to Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, which he
\nvisited several times, spreading knowledge and building bridges between
\nscholars and students of learning.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

With the passing of Habib Omar
\nAl-Jilani, the Ummah has lost a pious scholar and sincere preacher, leaving
\nbehind a lasting intellectual and educational legacy and an indelible impact on
\nthose who knew him and studied under him.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\ndeceased in His vast mercy, grant him a spacious place in Paradise, and bestow
