Syria is preparing to launch the
\nDamascus International Book Fair in its first edition after liberation, in a
\nnational cultural event that reflects the return of culture to the forefront of
\nthe public scene. The event underscores the role of books in strengthening
\nnational unity, reinforcing Syria\u2019s civilizational identity, and reconnecting
\nthe country with the world through the gateway of knowledge.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The fair will open on February 5
\nat the Damascus Fairgrounds and will run for ten days, with the participation
\nof more than 500 publishing houses presenting over 100,000 titles from 35 Arab
\nand foreign countries, reflecting the scale of Arab and international
\nengagement with this cultural event.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Slogan
\nThat Reflects the Reclaiming of Narrative<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The fair is held under the
\nslogan \u201cA History We Write\u2026 A History We Read,\u201d symbolizing Syrians\u2019 reclaiming
\nof their right to write and read their own history, and reinforcing the belief
\nthat books remain a fundamental pillar in building awareness and a safeguard
\nfor social cohesion in the face of ignorance and extremism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of
\nCulture, the fair\u2019s cultural program has been designed to balance depth and
\ndiversity, featuring more than 650 intellectual, literary, and historical
\nevents, with the participation of over 500 writers, thinkers, and researchers.
\nA significant space has also been dedicated to children and youth, regarded as
\nthe audience of the future and the driving force of the upcoming cultural
\nrenaissance.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Awards
\nand a Renewed Cultural Presence<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The fair will witness the launch
\nof more than seven cultural awards, including awards for Syrian, Arab, and
\ninternational publishers, Best Young Publisher, and Children\u2019s Book Publishers,
\nin addition to the \u201cPersonality of the Fair\u201d Award, alongside the introduction
\nof accompanying cultural initiatives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The event will also feature
\nvarious sections, including a cultural salon hosting prominent intellectual
\nfigures, public seminars, a booksellers\u2019 market, and pavilions dedicated to
\nArabic calligraphy and the arts, as well as integrating modern technology and
\nartificial intelligence through interactive services and digital displays.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Organizers emphasized that this
\nedition of the fair carries a cultural and political message, affirming Syria\u2019s
\nreturn to its civilizational role. They noted that cultural work in the
\npost-liberation phase is based on cultural freedom as the foundation of
\nsustainable knowledge, empowerment, and the building of an authentic ethical
\nframework, stressing that culture represents the true guarantor of social
\ncoexistence and the strongest bulwark against extremism.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
