On the occasion of the Islamic New Year 1447
\nAH, Sheikh Dr. Ekrima Sabri \u2014 preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, head of the Higher
\nIslamic Council in Jerusalem, and member of the Board of Trustees of the
\nInternational Union of Muslim Scholars \u2014 called for drawing lessons from the
\nProphetic Hijrah in patience, steadfastness, and unity. At the same time, he
\nwarned of a dangerous escalation by the occupation authorities targeting
\nAl-Aqsa Mosque<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Hijrah: A
\nFoundation for Dignity and Unity<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sheikh Sabri affirmed that the Hijrah was
\nnot merely a geographical relocation, but rather the foundation of a state
\nbased on justice and dignity. He called on the Muslim Ummah to transform the
\nanniversary of the Hijrah into a practical turning point for protecting Al-Aqsa
\nMosque and Islamic sanctities, strengthening Islamic unity, and rejecting the
\ndivisions that have weakened the stance on Palestine<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Bitter Year
\nMarked by Foiled Conspiracies<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

His Eminence pointed out that the past Hijri
\nyear witnessed multiple assaults and restrictions on worshippers and was a
\npainful year for Jerusalem and Palestine. Al-Aqsa Mosque narrowly escaped
\nserious conspiracies \u2014 most notably attempts to perform “sacrificial
\nrituals” within the mosque \u2014 which could have ignited the entire region<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sheikh Sabri stressed that continued
\ninternational and Islamic silence in the face of these actions would plunge
\nJerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque into a dark tunnel. He called for taking religious
\nand national responsibility in protecting the First Qiblah<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Unprecedented
\nEscalation and Plans to Close Al-Aqsa<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In a new warning, Sheikh Sabri said the
\nIsraeli occupation is exploiting regional circumstances to seek the full
\nclosure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent worshippers from accessing it \u2014 a
\nflagrant violation of freedom of worship. He affirmed that this closure would
\nbe the most dangerous since the Bab al-Asbat uprising in 2017<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He also pointed to the increasing incursions
\nby extremist Jewish groups and their attempts to perform Talmudic rituals
\ninside the mosque, in addition to the digging of tunnels beneath it \u2014 all with
\ndirect support from the current Israeli government, which, according to him,
\naims to inflame the situation in the region<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Salute to the
\nSteadfast and a Call to Scholars and Leaders<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

During his meeting with Jerusalem
\ndignitaries, Sheikh Sabri saluted the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem,
\nthe West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, who continue to pay the price in defense of
\nAl-Aqsa despite the Islamic world\u2019s failure to act. He warned that the
\nconspiracy of “sacrificial offerings” is ongoing amid a shameful
\nofficial silence from most Islamic countries<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His Eminence called on scholars,
\nintellectuals, and media outlets to fulfill their responsibilities in conveying
\nthe voice of Jerusalem and the suffering of its people. He emphasized that
\nAl-Aqsa Mosque does not belong to a single group or state, but to all Muslims,
\nand warned that remaining silent in the face of threats to it is unacceptable<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nLeaders: Al-Aqsa Is a Trust Upon Your Shoulders<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In conclusion, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri appealed
\nto the leaders of Arab and Islamic nations to make this new Hijri year a real
\nbeginning for shouldering their responsibilities toward Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa
\nMosque. He stated<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nduty, not a political option. Al-Aqsa is a trust upon the shoulders of every
