Istanbul Hosts Major Fiqh Conference on Contemporary Issues and
\nSharia Objectives<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

On
\nSaturday, August 16, 2025, the scientific jurisprudence conference of the Iraqi
\nFiqh Council commenced in Istanbul. The event is being organized in cooperation
\nwith the Association of Muslim Scholars in Turkey (Union Branch) and will run
\nfrom August 16 to 18, with the participation of a distinguished group of
\nscholars, jurists, and researchers from Iraq and beyond.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Opening Session and Message from the Council<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\nconference began with a recitation from the Holy Qur\u2019an by Sheikh Farouq
\nAl-Samarrai, followed by the first session chaired by Dr. Fadel Al-Rubaie, the
\nrapporteur of the conference.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Taha
\nAl-Zeidi delivered a speech on behalf of the council, conveying the greetings
\nof the eminent scholar Sheikh Ahmed Hassan Al-Taha, the senior scholar of the
\ncouncil, and expressing gratitude to the host organization.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Zeidi
\nemphasized that the council seeks to guide fatwas and address contemporary
\ndevelopments in light of the objectives of Sharia and the realities of modern
\nlife, through the methodology of collective ijtihad, consultation with experts,
\nand communication with international jurisprudence councils. He further noted
\nthe council\u2019s dedication to training muftis and developing specialized jurists
\nthrough scientific programs both within Iraq and abroad.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lectures on the First Day<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\nfirst day included two scholarly lectures:<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>The first, by Dr.
\nAbdulwahab Akinci, titled \u201cThe Role and Importance of Spiritual Purification
\n(Tazkiyah) in Calling to Allah and Guiding Society.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>He explained that
\ntazkiyah represents the spiritual dimension in shaping the character of the
\nda\u2018i (caller to Islam) and reforming society, citing the Qur\u2019an, the Sunnah,
\nand historical experiences.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nsecond, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, Secretary-General of the
\nInternational Union of Muslim Scholars, was titled \u201cDigital Currencies and
\nE-Commerce.\u201d He discussed the challenges posed by modern economic
\ntransformations and the jurisprudential dilemmas they bring, stressing that
\npurposive (maqasidi) collective ijtihad is essential to regulate modern
\ntransactions in a way that serves the interests of the ummah and prevents harm.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nfatwas in accordance with the objectives of Sharia.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nof collective ijtihad and integration with experts.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Training a generation of
\nspecialized muftis through courses and programs.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Wide Participation and Scholarly Engagement<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\nsessions witnessed wide participation from Sharia scholars, university
\nprofessors, students of knowledge, and researchers, along with representatives
\nof academic and intellectual institutions. The discussions were marked by
\nscholarly engagement and a conscious collective spirit keen on addressing
\nemerging issues.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fruit of Cooperation and a Comprehensive Project<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

This
\nconference is part of the ongoing efforts of the Iraqi Fiqh Council to develop
\nsound jurisprudence that responds to intellectual, economic, and social
\nchallenges. It also represents the fruit of close cooperation with the
\nAssociation of Muslim Scholars, which hosted the event in Istanbul.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nconference is part of the broader project of \u201cMufti Training and
\nQualification,\u201d with the participation of thirty researchers from different
\nIraqi provinces, aiming to enhance their competencies and enable them to
\ncontribute to academic conferences and seminars.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
