Qatar Issues Decision to Close Shops During Friday Prayers<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Qatar\u2019s
\nMinister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, has issued
\na decision requiring commercial, industrial, and similar public shops across
\nthe country to close during Friday prayers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Details of the Decision<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7     <\/span><\/span><\/span>The
\ndecision stipulates that commercial and industrial establishments are free to
\noperate throughout the day according to the working hours they deem
\nappropriate.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7     <\/span><\/span><\/span>However,
\nthe competent department at the ministry, with the minister\u2019s approval, may
\nrequire certain establishments to adhere to specific working hours when deemed
\nnecessary in the public interest.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Closure During Friday Prayers<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\ndecision obliges commercial, industrial, and similar establishments to suspend
\noperations for one and a half hours, starting from the first call to prayer
\n(adhan) until the conclusion of Friday prayers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Exempted Activities<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\ndecision does not apply to establishments engaged in the following activities:<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

2-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Hospitals,
\nhealth centers, and private medical clinics<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

3-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Hotels
\nand accommodation facilities<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

4-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Fuel
\nstations<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

5-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Bakeries<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

6-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Telecommunications
\ncompanies<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

7-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Shops
\nlocated at ports of entry (airports, seaports, and land borders)<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

8-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Airline
\noffices at airports and seaports<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

9-     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Electricity
\nand water generation and operation facilities<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

10-                           
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Activities operating on a
\nshift system<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

11-                           
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Passenger and cargo
\ntransport services by land, sea, or air<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Any
\nother activities determined by the competent department in the public interest<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\ndecision emphasizes that all relevant authorities must implement its
\nprovisions, with enforcement starting the day after its publication in the
