Istanbul Hosts Global Muslim Scholars Conference in Solidarity

Istanbul
\nwitnessed the launch of a global conference under the theme \u201cGaza: An Islamic
\nand Humanitarian Responsibility\u201d, with the participation of around 150
\nprominent Muslim scholars from nearly 50 countries. The event took place in the
\ncourtyard of the Ey\u00fcp Sultan Mosque immediately after Friday prayers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nconference is organized by the International Union of Muslim Scholars in
\ncooperation with the Islamic Scholars Foundation in Turkey, and supported by
\nthe Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs. Its core message: Gaza is not
\nmerely a local issue, but a humanitarian trust and a civilizational message for
\nthe Muslim Ummah and the global conscience.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nopening speech, Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, Secretary-General of the International
\nUnion of Muslim Scholars, stated that what is happening in Gaza represents one
\nof the gravest catastrophes in modern history\u2014describing it as a genocide
\ntargeting over 2.5 million people who have lived under bombardment, siege, and
\ndeprivation of basic needs for the past 22 months.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\ncriticized the silence of the international community and the regression of
\nofficial stances, while commending the widespread popular support around the
\nworld. He emphasized that Gaza is the cause of the entire Muslim Ummah and
\nhumanity at large, and the conference in Istanbul reflects scholars\u2019 commitment
\nto defending Palestine.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile,
\nTurkish Religious Affairs President Ali Erba\u015f stressed that global peace cannot
\nbe achieved without peace in Palestine, asserting that international stability

He
\npointed out that sympathy alone is insufficient\u2014concrete steps are needed to
\nstop the aggression and ensure aid delivery, criticizing the world’s silence in

The
\nconference aims to transform solidarity with Gaza into coordinated action,

The

\nhigh-level scholar delegations to meet leaders of Muslim countries to rally

Establishing
\na permanent follow-up committee to implement the conference\u2019s recommendations

Hosting
\n18 specialized workshops from August 24 to 28, addressing the Palestinian issue
\nfrom legal, political, and humanitarian perspectives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nevent will conclude on Friday, August 29 at the Grand Hagia Sophia Mosque with
\na final statement and scholars’ recommendations to the world.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
