Ramadan initiative

Muslim activists in the
\nNetherlands launched a Ramadan initiative aimed at promoting dialogue and
\nintroducing Islam as part of efforts to confront Islamophobia.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The event was held in a public
\nspace and included a communal iftar, an open prayer, and direct discussions
\nwith passers-by in an attempt to build bridges with the local community.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative was organized by
\nan association called Building and Dialogue, and came in response to an
\nincident in Assen in which a copy of the Qur\u2019an was burned, an act that sparked
\nwidespread anger and calls to enhance dialogue rather than confrontation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Organizers focused on conveying
\nthe values of Islam and encouraging understanding.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The tent included panels with
\ntranslated verses of the Qur\u2019an and informational brochures about fasting and
\nthe values of mercy and solidarity, in addition to translated recitations to
\nhelp visitors understand the spiritual message.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

At sunset, a collective prayer
\nwas held followed by tarawih prayers, with both Muslims and non-Muslims
\nattending and interacting with the event.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants emphasized that
\ndialogue is the best way to confront hatred and that presenting facts helps
\neliminate stereotypes.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

One speaker noted that
\ninitiatives of acquaintance strengthen coexistence in multicultural societies.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
