The capital, Sana\u2019a,
\nalong with several other Yemeni cities, witnessed large-scale public rallies on
\nFriday under the slogan \u201cMobilization and Alert\u2026 In Support of the Quran and
\nPalestine\u201d. The demonstrations condemned repeated assaults on Islamic sanctities,
\nmost recently by U.S. Senate candidate Jake Lang, who desecrated a copy of the
\nQuran<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Participants carried
\nbanners denouncing the hate speech propagated by some U.S. politicians, viewing
\nLang\u2019s actions as a deliberate provocation to Muslims worldwide<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

They also reaffirmed
\nYemen\u2019s continued support for the Palestinian people and called for a boycott
\nof American and Israeli goods as a practical measure to prevent complicity in
\ncommitted crimes, and as an effective means of pressuring for just causes<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The rallies followed
\nactions that sparked widespread condemnation both within and outside the United
\nStates. Video clips showed Lang during a demonstration in Plano, Texas, holding
\na small pig while placing a copy of the Quran on its mouth, reciting phrases
\ndeemed incitement by human rights organizations<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A similar incident
\noccurred in Dearborn, Michigan, where footage showed Lang throwing a copy of
\nthe Quran to the ground and attempting to burn it before another participant
\nintervened<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In later statements,
\nLang claimed he had \u201canother copy\u201d of the Quran, without retracting his
\nactions, which intensified the criticism directed at him<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting
\nthat Lang had previously received a presidential pardon from former U.S.
\nPresident Donald Trump due to his involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol
\nevents, before announcing his candidacy for the Senate from Florida<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

American religious
\nand human rights organizations condemned these actions, describing them as
\nincitement to religious hatred and a violation of the feelings of millions of
\nMuslims in the U.S. and abroad, calling on authorities to take legal measures
\nto prevent such violations from recurring<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
