\nAustralia and Member of the Board of Trustees of the International Union of
\nMuslim Scholars, Dr. Ibrahim Abu Mohammed, has strongly condemned the use of
\nforce against peaceful demonstrators in Sydney, describing it as a \u201cmoral
\nscandal\u201d and warning that such practices threaten Australia\u2019s democratic values
\nand resemble methods associated with colonialism and authoritarian regimes.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Democracy Under Scrutiny<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement issued by his
\noffice, the Grand Mufti emphasized that peaceful protest is a fundamental right
\nin democratic societies, allowing citizens to express support or dissent
\nfreely. He stressed that the demonstrations held last Monday in opposition to
\nthe visit of the Israeli President remained entirely peaceful and posed no
