The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested at dawn Tuesday 12 Palestinians from different areas of the West Bank.<\/p>\n
An Israeli army spokesperson claimed that 12 "wanted" Palestinians were rounded up during a raid campaign throughout the West Bank.<\/p>\n
Ex-prisoners and a prisoner's wife were among the detainees.<\/p>\n
The arrests were mainly reported in Rummana, Frou'n, Hamza, Dura, Surif, Issa, Tekoa, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Nablus and al-Khalil.<\/p>\n
Guns, including an M16 rifle, were allegedly confiscated during the raids.<\/p>\n
Local sources affirmed that at least two youths were injured, while dozens suffered breathing problems during the raid campaign in which the IOF fired teargas canisters at the youths.<\/p>\n
Earlier Monday, IOF arrested five Palestinians in Jerusalem and Ramallah.<\/p>\n
According to local sources, three Palestinians were detained in separate incidents in Occupied Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
A 14-year-old boy was also rounded up in Silwad town, in Ramallah.<\/p>\n
Another 14-year-old boy was detained in Beitunia town, also in Ramallah, near the separation wall.<\/p>\n
The Israeli army often carries out detention raids against Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem, claiming to arrest “wanted” Palestinians.<\/p>\n
4,600 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails, including 31 women, 172 children, and 682 administrative detainees.<\/p>\n
