Yesterday,
\nFriday, countries in South and Southeast Asia witnessed simultaneous
\ndemonstrations as part of a global grassroots movement called the \u201cGlobal
\nResilience Caravan,\u201d demanding the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip
\nand condemning the crimes of the Israeli occupation, according to Nader
\nAl-Nouri, one of the organizers and a Malaysian activist who lived in Gaza for
\nseveral years.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nmarches took place in Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, the Philippines, and
\nIndonesia. Al-Nouri expects these demonstrations to continue across various
\nAsian cities, with the largest planned for next Saturday in the Malaysian
\ncapital, Kuala Lumpur, with the participation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nepal: Challenging Israeli Influence<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In
\nNepal, hundreds of people gathered in the capital, Kathmandu, to denounce
\nIsraeli war crimes, noting that \u201cIsraeli influence\u201d in their country has
\nobscured the Palestinian cause for decades, especially amid political and
\neconomic instability.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nNepalese government\u2019s neutral stance on international conflicts is largely
\nbased on its political and economic interests with India and Western powers,
\nincluding the United States. The government has also rejected calls to halt the
\nexport of labor to Israel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Lanka: Widespread Popular Solidarity<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In
\nColombo, protesters carried the slogan \u201cSri Lanka United for Palestine,\u201d
\nholding banners demanding an end to starvation and genocide, while chanting
\nagainst occupation crimes and Western support for Israel.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A
\nsolidarity festival was held at the historic Galle Face Green, attended by
\npolitical leaders and writers, including Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Radwa
\nSaleh. Intellectuals and politicians warned of previous Israeli attempts to
\nexpand influence on the island, emphasizing the need to monitor any illegal
\nactivities by Israeli citizens.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Maldives: Rejecting Israeli War Crimes<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In the
\ncapital, Mal\u00e9, thousands of citizens and political parties participated in a
\nlarge solidarity festival, condemning occupation crimes and the blockade
\nimposed on Gaza.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Government
\nofficials affirmed continued support for the Palestinian people, barred entry
\nto Israeli passport holders, and criticized statements by Israeli Prime
\nMinister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding settlement expansion in the West Bank.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
